Despite an edition marked by the pandemic and the closure before midnight of large numbers of museums, institutions and associated sites, SUZANNE has succeeded in showing to the parisian audience an unprecedented creation combining monumental installation, live video projection, minimalist movements and polyphonic singing. “CANON“, presented in la Cour d’Honneur of the Musée des Archives Nationales during the Nuit Blanche, attracted the attention of the magazine “Toute La Culture” and came out in the heart of Eliaz Ait Seddick.
On the occasion of the 13th edition of festival JERK OFF at Point Ephémère, Samuel Belfond and Anne-Charlotte Michaut from MANIFESTO.XXI came to meet SUZANNE on September 10th at the end of “MERCURES‘s” dress rehearsal. They exchanged around the notion of “error” in choreographic creation and how it interferes as a common thread in the development of a new language that SUZANNE tries to introduce to a triptych which includes “STATU” (2018), “MERCURES” (2019) and “CANON” (2020).
It is in the midst of an absolutely new context (the Covid19 pandemic) that SUZANNE has been immensely lucky to receive the invitation from Bruno Peguy (the artistic director from the JERK OFF festival) to present “MERCURES” during the last edition of JERK OFF festival at Le Point Éphémère in Paris. Two performances during the same evening of Friday 11th September at 7p.m and 9.30pm. Thomas Adam-Garnung, editor in chief of Ballroom Online magazine, was in the audience to watch the show first and then meet SUZANNE.
Last February 2020, SUZANNE was in Montreal for the 13th edition of Art Souterrain festival. Programmed with the staged capture of her performance “STATU” broadcasted throughout the festival, SUZANNE meets Léa Poiré, from MOUVEMENT magazine sent on site to discover the entire artistic program. The interview took place at the end of the day, in a very intimate setting that SUZANNE loves while sipping a delicious maple syrup latte !
It’s in her relationship to mistake and chance that the staging video of her performance “STATU” responded to the theme “RESET” and as a result SUZANNE is part of the very latest edition of Art Souterrain festival. Presented continuously throughout the festival, the video triggers many reactions. Charlotte Dibon from Esse arts + opinions magazine has given SUZANNE its first paper in the Canadian press specializing in contemporary art and multidisciplinary practices since 1984 !
The editor of “A voir et à danser” who had already come to see “MERCURES” in its 30 minutes version at The Palais de Tokyo museum last fall, mentions “MERCURES” in his diary of dance performances not to be missed in Paris. SUZANNE among Liz Santoro and Noé Soulier, it’s a joy !
At the start of 2020, SUZANNE flies to Montreal for the inauguration of the 13th edition of the contemporary art Art Souterrain festival for which she was programmed with the stage capture video of its performance “STATU” broadcast throughout the festival. This last, whose theme this year was “RESET”, was held in various public spaces in the Quebec capital from February 29 to March 22, 2020. On this occasion, ( Julien Chaudet and Lorenz Jack Chaillat-Cavaillé ) were interviewed by journalist Sébatien Jédor for RFI (Radio France International). A five-minutes podcast featuring the words of SUZANNE on her performance “STATU“.
Each year, Art Souterrain festival makes visual and contemporary art reachable to a wide audience by taking them out of traditional exhibitions venues and showcasing them in the architectural heritage of Montreal’s underground city. This year, for its 13th edition, the festival has “RESET” as its theme and invites the public and the artists to answer the question: “ If you were asked to start from zero, how would you imagine the world?” The video of first SUZANNE’s creation “STATU“, responding very directly to the chosen theme, is then presented for the first time across the Atlantic Ocean from February 29 to March 22 at Le Palais des Congrès of Montreal.
In September 2019, SUZANNE was interviewed by Léo Marin, curator ( Galerie Eric Mouchet, Paris ) whose exhibition “Mapping At Last – The Plausible Island” (2019) was the first opportunity for SUZANNE to show her second creation called “MERCURES” and the very first version of it. Their discussion, published on the online magazine of Point Contemporain, is visually very faithful to SUZANNE’s universe : colors, emojis… SUZANNE talks about her commitments as an artist, her very specific way to work in a group and above all for her love of art and the people surrounding her.
On October 31 and November 7, 2019, on the invitation of the visual artist Adélaïde Feriot, art resident at Palais de Tokyo for La Manutention , SUZANNE will participate in the collective work “AVALER L’HORIZON” and will perform a total of three performances on two evenings : “REGARDER LE SOLEIL” a sung piece by Adélaïde Feriot in collaboration with Kerwin Rolland; “NUIT LAVANDE” another sung piece by Adélaïde Feriot in collaboration with Héloïse Derly and “MERCURES” a dance performance by SUZANNE.
