“Silencieusement // DEVENIR// ” (“ Silently // BECOME // “ ) is the brand new podcast project by the artist and curator Sophie Monjaret. SUZANNE let herself get interviewed and answered Sophie’s questions.

In order to better understand the stakes of the art world of tomorrow, Sophie Monjaret launches a whole new project based on the search of the other. “ A sudden need fills me, an idea that fills the void. An obligation to meet the other. To move altogether in a world where we are told to isolate. A need to question the world I’m growing up in as an artist and curator”. A quest towards the other that takes the form of interviews turned into podcasts. In a context where the pandemic has forced a large number of actors from the living and contemporary art scene to silently create, imagine and rethink the world of tomorrow, “Silently // BECOME //”, Sophie Monjaret’s brand new project is conceived as different meeting spaces in times of health crisis. A 41 minute podcast dedicated to SUZANNE shows how a group of dancers and performers can continue to work together when we are not allowed to see or touch each other.

“STATU” video performance by SUZANNE exhibited at Art Souterrain festival in Montreal.

Each year, Art Souterrain festival makes visual and contemporary art reachable to a wide audience by taking them out of traditional exhibitions venues and showcasing them in the architectural heritage of Montreal’s underground city. This year, for its 13th edition, the festival has “RESET” as its theme and invites the public and the artists to answer the question: “ If you were asked to start from zero, how would you imagine the world?” The video of first SUZANNE’s creation “STATU“, responding very directly to the chosen theme, is then presented for the first time across the Atlantic Ocean from February 29 to March 22 at Le Palais des Congrès of Montreal.

SUZANNE answers to Léo Marin’s questions for Point Contemporain.

In September 2019, SUZANNE was interviewed by Léo Marin, curator ( Galerie Eric Mouchet, Paris ) whose exhibition “Mapping At Last – The Plausible Island” (2019) was the first opportunity for SUZANNE to show her second creation called “MERCURES” and the very first version of it. Their discussion, published on the online magazine of Point Contemporain, is visually very faithful to SUZANNE’s universe : colors, emojis… SUZANNE talks about her commitments as an artist, her very specific way to work in a group and above all for her love of art and the people surrounding her.
